Hey guys,

Well, I'm back from Homestead for the first time this past weekend and I had a great time. It ended up being a pretty fun course. The turns off the enbankments can be a little hairy but otherwise it was great.

I met some new people who were on the board and enjoyed seeing the regulars. Had a few problems on Saturday but got everything resolved by Sunday to be back on track and get some nice laps in before the rain hit.

Here are a few laps I got on film. It's nice to get footage so I can see where I'm messing up. I screwed up 4th gear around turn 7 a couple times for some reason and I was braking early at turn 8 a number of times, but I guess early is better than late. A BMW I passed tried to take my braking point for 8 and went off course right as I turned in. Luckily he didn't hit me.

On to the footage. And I'm not the best driver.

Jeremy,

Nice vid, what type of camera are you using? I like the sound of that engine! I'm glad you got your car back in shape for Sunday, I was bummed the last session on Sat was rained out. But, I passed a couple of corvettes so I was happy! That and no incidents, which is always nice.

Thanks for the words.

Glad you enjoyed yourself Jason. Hopefully you'll find the G35 you're looking for soon.

I'm using a Canon ZR600 Mini DV. I think I paid like $240 for it over a year ago so I'm sure it's real cheap now. The footage came out a lot better than Sebring but I also re-did the mount as well. Hopefully it will hold up at Sebring next time and not skip around so much.

I had a great time my first time at Homestead. Nice video Jeremy. I was wathching your line on turn 3 since you have FWD like me. I was having some trouble with the line on turn 3. Despite advice from Dave my instructor and my best intentions to turn really late and slow down, more often than not I was early and too fast which blows the line for turn 4. Several times I was thinking I am turning in too late and too slow and Dave would say nope too early and too fast, and he was right. By the afternoon I was getting better and getting it right about a third of the time. Dave said he would sign off on me the next session but alas it was rained out.

Anyway I was glad you guys got your rear brake fixed. On a braking note, I had just installed some better brake ducting directly into the front discs because I was trying to extend the life of my front pads and they seemed to work as my pads didn't seem worn much at all. I realize Homestead isn't as hard on brakes as Sebring, but my brakes worked well and I was getting on them pretty hard. See you at Sebring in August.

So was my line the one you ended up taking Jim? I just hugged it as close as I could. Really felt like you were scrubbing tires and going slow as crap but the only car that pulled me through there was the Yellow Chin open wheel car.

We got the brakes fixed. It was a matter of installing them incorrectly and then not having our wheel lock key to get them off.

Needless to say we are done with Kyokugen lugnuts and going to open ended 19mm lugnuts.

Very nice hatch and I'm glad to see that you guys had a good time! I even saw when you passed my student in the green 3-series.

Overall your lines look very good and you're pretty much running the same lines that I do. You're a little tentative going into turn10...I'll typically give a tap on the brakes to transfer weight forward to initiate turn in and then I'm back 100% on the throttle through 10. I also take 10 a lot tighter so that almost the entire car is over the rumble strips. I guarantee you are losing time there. Next time you are out at Homestead work on attacking turn 10 a little more aggressively (little by little) and you should see your lap times drop some.

Once again, nice ride and I hope to see you guys around in the future.

Thanks! I completely agree about turn 10. That turn always made me nervous and I more or less babied it around it most of the time. I'm sure I can get more confidence in turn 10 I just need a little more seat time. I think I only did 3 sessions the whole weekend and that was my first time at that track. Other than 10 I felt pretty comfortable at that track.

Glad you had fun as well.

Turn 10 got me Sat. in the rain. I ended up wagging the tail from 10 to 11 before the car finally gave up. I stayed on course though! Your car screems, almost as loud as the Miata with the S2000 motor! I was in the yellow CRX, on street tires. I could not believe how well the car did on track. No push at all, nice rotation between 4 and 5. See you guys soon.

yes we were able to capture consistent 1:50's. not too shabby for first time on track and really we didn't get a lot of track time with the brake issue that we had.

sounds good. was running 1.45's with the car and 300 miles on it.

was running 1.38-1.39's with the silver car, so i'd expect to see you guys in the low 40's after an event or two.
