I am thinking about purchasing a Miata with a retractable folding hardtop. Do most tracks, including RA & VIR consider that a hardtop or convertible? Reason I am asking is, The only rollbar that will fit those models, is located below your head in order for the top to fold up. Don't want to get that model if it is considered a convertible. If it is, I will get a regular convertible Miata that will allow me to put a taller rollbar in it. Your feedback would be appreciated.

the only track where this question is relevant is VIR. VIR will classify it as a convertible. At VIR, structural rollover protection is required. There are no restrictions at other tracks. Convertibles can be used in OEM configuration.
