So, you're a sports car enthusiast, yes? Own a high-performance car? Did you notice,
in the owner's manual (you DID read the owner's manual, right?), that there's detailed
info on the seat adjustment, and the climate controls, and how to change a flat
tire... but there's no ADVANCED DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS! How can you acquire and master
the skills necessary to safely enjoy the performance potential of your car? For
that matter, what exactly is the performance potential of your car? To attempt to
explore that potential, and learn those skills, on the public streets and roads
is, at best, an exercise in futility. At worst, it is downright dangerous, for you,
and other users of the streets.
Chin Motorsports exists to provide opportunities to people like you to bring your
high-performance car to well-known road courses, for the purpose of receiving advanced
driver training, and enjoying your car in ways that are not possible on public roads.
Experience the pungent odor of hot brakes. Hear the tires screech like a silly car
chase on TV... but, this is for real... it's you, in your car. We offer high-performance
driver education in the closed-course controlled environment of some of the renowned
venues in the country... tracks like Sebring International Raceway, Watkins Glen
International, and VIRginia International Raceway, just to name a few (see a complete
list of venues here). We DO NOT offer racing or competition; all of our events are
defined as driver education activities, and are governed accordingly. Our events
are well structured, and fully staffed with emergency personnel, corner workers,
and instructors. We welcome ALL enthusiasts; there is no requirement to own a particular
marque of car. Almost any modern street car with OEM equipment can be used. Feel
free to browse our event pictures pages to see a sample of the kinds of cars that
participate.
Chin Motorsports was first organized in 1999. We were a handful of sports car owners,
all with a similar interest in becoming better, safer drivers, and enjoying the
high performance of our cars in a safe environment, off of the street. We were attending
other track events, and getting some training, and doing some driving, but mostly,
we were waiting around, for our turn on the track. We grew weary of the familiar
pattern of waiting around for an hour and a half, for a 20-25 minute session on
track, followed by another waiting period... and decided to do something different.
We adopted a structure of limiting the enrollment in our events to fewer drivers,
and having longer sessions, more frequently. The result today is that, at a typical
CMS event, a driver can get more track time before lunch than many other events
offer all day! Since 1999, we have now organized more than 135 safe, successful
events. Over 10,000 drivers have participated in our programs.
For the entry-level/novice driver, we assign an expert instructor. The instructor
accompanies you as a passenger while you drive on track. You receive real-time feedback
and coaching on advanced driving skills, track etiquette, and safety. Our novice
driver program also includes 2 hours of indoor classroom instruction, where one
of our Master Instructors provides training on car control, vehicle dynamics, road
course fundamentals, and, again, safety.
If you are an experienced veteran of the track, you may receive a solo qualification,
and enjoy the freedom of our long sessions and generous schedule, to get maximum
track time for practice or testing. Even though there is no competition at our track
events, competition prepared cars are welcomed.
Observers and guests are welcome at our events. Many enthusiasts come just to admire
the fantastic display of cars that is present at every event. And, it's also possible
to register as a passenger, and ride with some of our advanced drivers, to enjoy
the view of the track through the windshield, instead of through a fence!
Forget the frustration of commuting... leave your cell phone elsewhere... no
worries about traffic jams or construction zones... experience the pure pleasure
of high-performance driving, with Chin Motorsports.
